About Emily
Emily W. Davis is a fundraising expert, community builder, and innovative strategist who has spent a decade working exclusively with mission-driven organizations. Her deep expertise spans concept, design, and execution, enabling teams to take their communications and development efforts to the next level, resulting in millions raised for nonprofits that share her dedication for transforming K-12 education.
Throughout her career, Emily has fiercely fought to increase teacher retention through impactful community building and advocacy efforts. Most recently, she served as executive director of the Better Together: California Teachers Initiative, where she spearheaded the planning and execution of its annual California Teachers Summit, an event spanning 30+ venues centered on professional and collaborative learning for more than 10,000 teachers across the state. During her tenure, she honed her skills in community engagement through her leadership of the initiative’s network of 37,000+ teachers, fostering remote and in-person connections to enhance their teaching practices.
Her passion for advocacy and communications began when she led development and outreach efforts for The Teacher Salary Project, where she produced the award-winning documentary American Teacher as well as several short films highlighting the urgent need to pay teachers a living wage. As the organization’s development and outreach director, she designed and launched nationwide community screenings, premieres, and theatrical releases for the film in more than 560 venues.
Earlier in her career, Emily served as a development associate and grant writer at the New Teacher Center and San Francisco Education Fund.
Emily is based in New York City and supports clients across the country.
